Similarly, modern tanks have been reinforced with double fibreglass walls significantly reducing the issue of leaks in tanks. The tank replacement process demands the replacement of old pipes with new ones, which are stronger. Despite these dramatic changes, some leakage incidences from fuel tanks are still being reported. To countercheck such occurrences, the US government through the EPA has provided resources for cleanup and prevention programs. These resources are provided to tribes, territories and local authorities to aid them in implementing their clean up and prevention programs. Since the inception of the use of USTs, preventing leaks and spillages into the environment have always been a challenge. However, the EPA and other environmental organisations have significantly progressed in their bid to minimise and eventually halt the release of these substances into the environment. Nevertheless, there have been major setbacks encountered by these organisations concerning the operation and maintenance of these tanks. When leakage of USTs occurs, the owners and the operators are required by law to report the matter to the relevant authorities. Thereafter, clean up of the spillage is done before 24 hours elapse. In case of an underground leakage, operators should try as much as possible to minimise the contact between the tankââ¬â¢s contents and the air. This can be achieved by use of sorbents to limit the flow of the chemicals. In addition, an immediate excavation should be done. In some cases, the law mandates a secondary containment in cases of emergencies. The secondary containment is supposed to be used at all times whenever humansââ¬â¢ health is at risk. This containment should be well fabricated to prevent the stored substance from seeping down the water table. Furthermore, consideration of the volume of the containment is necessary. It must be stable enough to hold different pressures from different fluids. However, containmentsââ¬â¢ specifications vary from state to state and from one local authority to another. To avoid incidences of leaks, owners and operators are required by law to monitor the volume of the stored substances regularly. The volume capacity of the tank should always be greater than the transferring tankââ¬â¢s capacity. In this regard, owners should ensure that their operators comply with the required USTs protocols. I personally do not like windy days. However, wind could be helping us more than we realize. We could be using the wind to produce energy. This is what wind turbines do and now I will be researching them to determine the physics involved with them and how they work, their history, along with some statistics from the United States. Then I will go in-depth for the wind turbines of Texas, Washington, and Kansas and compare them. The Physics of Wind Turbines There is physics involved in these wind turbines as they change wind into mechanical energy and then into electricity. The energy produced depends on the volume of the air, the density, and the wind speed. The mass per unit time is the mass times the density times the wind speed or m = mass, p = density, A = area, and v = wind speed; m = pAV. Because the function of the wind turbine is to transform the windââ¬â¢s kinetic energy into electricity the equation for kinetic energy is needed; KE = à ½ mv2 or kinetic energy equals one half the mass times the velocity squared. Then, using substitution, the power in the wind depends on the density of the air, area swept out by rotors, and the cube of the velocity or à ½ pAV3. Using Betzââ¬â¢ law the theoretical energy model for extracting 59% of the energy is power = 16/27(à ½ pAV3) . The power passing through or created by the wind power is à ½ pAv3. All the power cannot be captured though, because that would mean the wind had to be still, absolutely no wind, which is impossible when the wind starts the whole process. Today in the United States of America, some common law principles from the original English Law are being applied.Alongside it is the branching body of Common Law which is in the process of being set as a part of stare decisis which itself is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase ââ¬Ëstare decisis et non quieta movereââ¬â¢ which translates as ââ¬Ëto stand by decisions and not to disturb settled mattersââ¬â¢, whereby the judicial systems decisions and interpretation of statutory law provisions by judges, are becoming a part of the common law. Judges too do look to these decisions as a guideline, reference or as a necessary precedent to follow, whilst making their own decisions.Although advantages of the system have been significant in England and Wales, drawbacks of the system gradually came on par. As these decisions are based on past cas es, predictability of the outcome increased and people are more exposed to what should be expected, however so, with the element of predictability, absurdity on deciding cases may occur. In referring to a decided case, if there appears to be no change and the decision is followed again by a judge, a bad decision will eventually be perpetuated.And considering common law systems have been following precedents as a base, changes takes a long time to happen. In the meantime, a bad decision from a past case continues to be upheld. It became a major criticism of common law systems that it can be hard to locate the relevant principles due to the available volume of material. Common law which was based on the principle of binding precedent meant that judges must follow precedent even if they disagree with it.Judges too were not able to distinguish essentially similar cases although they were on grounds decision made would be inappropriate. Lord Denning too criticised the doctrine to stand b y what has been decided by saying, ââ¬Å"if lawyers hold to their precedents too closely, forgetful of the fundamental principles of truth and justice which they should serve, they may find the whole edifice comes tumbling down about them. Just as the scientist seeks for truth, so the lawyer should seek for justice.Just as the scientist takes his instances and from them builds up his general propositions, so the lawyer should take his precedents and from them build up his general principles. Just as the propositions of the scientist fail to be modified when shown not to fit all instances, or even discarded when shown in error, so the principles of the lawyer should be modified when found to be unsuited to the times or discarded when found to work injustice. , which in other words meant accepting the decisions of old law leads to unfairness and injustice. Furthermore, when precedent appears absent the common law legal system will be bound to face difficulties in making judgements. D ifficulties will arise and flood various parties which include judges and those with intention to claim justice will be at lost with the unavailability of a decided precedent to refer to. This has been said on certain occasion to lead to a high degree of unpredictability based on illogical distinctions.

Pride and Prejudice is a British novel written by Jane Austen. This book is one of the most cherished love stories in English Literature. Pride and Prejudice was written in the early 1800ââ¬â¢s to replicate the relationships between men and women in Austenââ¬â¢s time. She portrayed Elizabeth, the second eldest of the Bennet daughters as fearless, independent, and more concerned about marrying for love than marrying for social status and stability. Elizabeth is able to still able to have the expectations of a woman without losing the ability to have her own opinion and strong state of mind. Austen created and highlighted one of the main characters, Elizabeth Bennet, to express the different morals she viewed, and how unalike she is from most of theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦For example, Elizabeth married for love whereas Charlotte Lucas, another character, just married for money and stability. Elizabeth believes marriage should be all about love, equality, and respect. While society tells her that marriage should be based on social status and financial status. In the bible it says: ââ¬Å"Keep your mind on the higher things, not on the things of earthâ⬠(Bible in Basic English, Col 3:2). This is a lot like Elizabeth and Charlotte. Elizabeth is more focused on what will happen in the long run, which in this verse is Heaven. On the other hand, Charlotte is focused on how much money her husband will have. In this verse it says to make your attention towards higher things. Mr. Collins proposes to Elizabeth, and she denies the first time. Elizabethââ¬â¢s mother becomes angry because without the marriage of Elizabeth and Mr. Collins, the Bennet family will not be able to keep their estate. Elizabeth denies Mr. Collins because she says that stability is no reason to be committed to someone. She proclaims, ââ¬Å"I could never make him happy, and he could never make me happy.â⬠(Austen, Chapter 55) She uses this quote to illustrate the fact tha t marriage should not be based on financial wealth and social status.
